Nutrition problems are inseparable from food problems because nutritional problems arise as a result of deficiency or excess nutrient content in food. Fulfillment of nutrition in children under five is a factor that must be considered, because the vulnerable development period of nutrition is in infancy. A serious malnutrition can cause death in children. Thus, it is very important to do a weighing toddler regularly every month so that growth can be followed. Therefore it is necessary to have research that describes the literature review regarding the factors that influence the nutritional status of children under five. Research purposes is finding out what factors can affect the nutritional status of children under five based on the results of the literature review. The research used in this research is literature research or literature study. The results of the synthesis of the research article show that there is an influence between the factor of mother's education, mother's knowledge about toddler nutrition, and the history of exclusive breastfeeding to the nutritional status of toddlers. There is an influence between the factors of mother's education level, mother's knowledge about toddler nutrition, and the history of exclusive breastfeeding on the nutritional status of children under five based on the literature review

Abstrak


Masalah gizi tidak terlepas dari masalah makanan karena masalah gizi timbul sebagai akibat kekurangan atau kelebihan kandungan zat gizi dalam makanan. Pemenuhan gizi pada anak balita merupakan faktor yang harus diperhatikan, karena periode perkembangan yang rentan gizi adalah pada masa balita. Kekurangan gizi yang serius dapat menyebabkan kematian pada anak. Dengan demikian, sangat penting dilakukannya penimbangan berat badan balita secara teratur setiap bulan agar dapat diikuti pertumbuhannya. Oleh karena itu perlu adanya penelitian yang mendeskripsikan literature review mengenai faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi balita. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui faktor – faktor apa saja yang dapat mempengaruhi status gizi balita berdasarkan hasil literature review. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan atau kajian literatur. Hasil sintesis artikel penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh antara faktor pendidikan ibu, pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi balita, dan riwayat pemberian ASI Eksklusif terhadap status gizi balita. Terdapat pengaruh antara faktor tingkat pendidikan ibu, pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi balita, dan riwayat pemberian ASI Eksklusif terhadap status gizi balita berdasarkan hasil literature review.

Background: The first two years in life are critical period in which rapid growth and development occured. Nutritional status of children under five years old is influenced by several factors, such as social, economic, cultural, health, environmental, and demographic factor. The World Health Organization reported that protein- energy malnutrition (PEM) prevalence in Indonesia was high. It was estimated that 27.5% of children under five years old were experienced from moderate malnutrition, while 8.5% of them were severely malnourished.

Objective: This study is aimed to determine nutritional status of children under five years old as well as to identify the correlation between risk factors and the nutritional status on the area of Dukuh Madigondo, Sidoharjo Village, Samigaluh Subdistrict, and the District of Kulonprogo.

Methods: The design of this study was observational with cross sectional study to identify 15 risk factors associated with nutritional status in children under five years old. Subjects were 48 children under five years old which assessed with research questionnaires. Correlation among variables was then analyzed using Kruskal Walis One Way Anova and Pearson Chi Square Test.

Result: The nutritional status of fourty four children under five years old were good, while two of the children were below standard and the remaining two were bad in nutritional status. Pearson Chi Square analysis has showed no significant correlation between nutritional status and sickness frequency, familial characteristics, expenditure, environmental hygiene sanitation, health care access, mother act, mother behavior, along with mother knowledge factor.

Conclusion: There was no significant correlation found among 15 risk factors towards nutritional status of children under five years old in Dukuh Madigondo, Sidoharjo Village, Samigaluh Subdistrict, District of Kulonprogo.

Gizi merupakan salah satu faktor yang menentukan tingkat kesejahteraan dan kesehatan manusia. Status gizi dipengaruhi oleh 2 faktor, yaitu langsung dan tidak langsung. Faktor langsung yaitu penyakit infeksi, jenis pangan yang yang dikonsumsi baik secara kualitas maupun kuantitas.

2. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi remaja antara lain asupan makan, aktivitas fisik, body image, dan gender. Sedangkan faktor depresi tidak mempengaruhi status gizi remaja.

Gizi kurang dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor yang meliputi asupan makan, penyakit infeksi, pola asuh, pola makan, kebiasaan adat istiadat, pelayanan kesehatan, sanitasi, pendidikan, pengetahuan, ekonomi, politik, dan sosial.

Sedangkan ada be- berapa faktor yang mempengaruhi gizi ibu hamil, diantaranya adalah berat badan, budaya pantang makan, status ekonomi, pengetahuan zat gizi dalam makanan, umur, suhu lingkungan, aktivitas, serta status kesehatan (Proverawati, 2009).
