Who is the host of snl tonight

If you have been waiting for a new episode of Saturday Night Live all week, we hate to be the ones who bring you bad news. But, unfortunately, there is no new episode of the sketch comedy series tonight. However, there is an episode that will air, and it’s one of my personal favorites! Below, we share all the details you need to know and also speculate on when Saturday Night Live season 48 premieres.

Last week’s episode of Saturday Night Live (May 21) was a sad one. As much as loved the sketches and continued to laugh throughout the episode, we were in tears at times, too. And this is because, in case you missed it, Saturday Night Live season 47 episode 21 was the last episode for Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson and Kyle Mooney. We will miss them dearly and wish nothing but the best — I know we’ll see them again, soon!

When it comes to keeping up with SNL‘s schedule, it’s not easy! The NBC show can take multiple breaks throughout a season. We’re also not always sure what the episode count for a season is. That said, here’s what we DO know about tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live.

There’s no new episode of NBC’s SNL tonight. The episode on May 21, which is season 47 episode 21, featuring Natasha Lyonne as the host and Japanese Breakfast as the musical guest, served as the season 47 finale. This means there won’t be a new episode for a while. But before we get into that, here’s who is hosting tonight’s episode.

SNL may not be new tonight, but NBC is airing one of its most popular episode. Season 47 episode 2 will air tonight at 11:29 p.m. ET only on NBC. This episode features Kim Kardashian as the host and the musical guest is Halsey.

We won’t have to go without SNL for too long! While there is nothing official so far, season 48 premieres at the end of the summer, well, more than likely. Typically, new seasons of Saturday Night Live premiere in the fall, right around September or October, so we should see the same debut time for season 48. There’s also that fact that new cast members will be announced in the coming season now that Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney have left. We’ll update you as soon as we know more.

Is “SNL” new tonight 2022? NO. NBC’s late night sketch comedy series aired its Season 47 finale on Saturday, May 21 at 11:30 ET/ 10:30 CT/ 9:30 MT/ 8:30 PT with host Natasha Lyonne and musical guest Japanese Breakfast. That episode served as the final one for cast members Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson. There won’t be any new episodes of “SNL” until Season 48 premieres in Fall 2022.

The most recent 47th season of “Saturday Night Live” began in October 2021 under the strictest of Covid-19 safety protocols. At last year’s 2021 Emmy Awards, the variety series won its 92nd trophy overall, making it the winningest program in the history of the Television Academy. The next closest show in second place is “Game of Thrones” with 59 Emmys.

The regular cast members for “SNL” Season 47 were, in credits order: Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Alex Moffat, Kyle Mooney, Ego Nwodim, Chris Redd, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, Melissa Villaseñor and Bowen Yang. Another head writer, Anna Drezen, left at the end of December 2021. Jost started hosting Weekend Update in March 2014 (replacing Seth Meyers), with Che officially joining him in September 2014. As of the current 47th season, Jost and Che are now the longest-serving duo in the history Weekend Update.

This year, audience members in attendance are required to be vaccinated and wear masks at all times due to Covid-19. The December 18 episode hosted by Paul Rudd was the only one not to have an audience, due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant.

Saturday Night Live is back tonight for the season 47 finale. So who should SNL fans expect to see take the stage tonight on NBC?

It has been the year of the first-timer when it comes to Saturday Night Live hosts this season. Only four hosts were returning guests all season long.

The trend will continue tonight with the season 47 finale. Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne will make her SNL debut as host. She’ll be supported by Japanese Breakfast as the musical guest.

Over the past few seasons, the finale episodes have been hosted by Anya Taylor-Joy, Kristen Wiig, and Paul Rudd. Lyonne’s inclusion in this group is a testament to her talents and popularity.

Hosting Saturday Night Live is no easy task. It can be even more nerve-wracking if it’s the host’s first time. Add in that it’s the season finale and should be an emotional episode, and it’s safe to say Natasha Lyonne has her work cut out for her.

But Lyonne isn’t afraid of the spotlight. She’s known for her roles in the American Pie movies, Orange Is the New Black, and Russian Doll. Lyonne has played a wide range of characters and proven her comedy chops time and time again. SNL should be another avenue for her to show off her talents.

Don’t be surprised if Lyonne gets an assist tonight, either. Among her Russian Doll co-creators is SNL alum Amy Poehler. Cameos are common in season finales, so Poehler would be an obvious choice. And although she recently broke up with Fred Armisen, Lyonne revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the two still talk frequently. Armisen is another former cast member who could pop up tonight.

There is an outside chance that no cameos happen and Lyonne is asked to step back and let certain cast members shine. According to Deadline, tonight is the last episode for Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, and Kyle Mooney.

Saturday Night Live airs tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. It also streams live on Peacock.
