How do I create a shared folder in Google Drive?

Access and create shortcuts to shared files and folders in Google at IU My Drive

Files and folders that others share with your Google at IU account appear in Google at IU My Drive under Shared with me. To access them:

  1. Log into google.iu.edu with your IU username and passphrase.
  2. To access Google My Drive, click Drive, and then Go to Drive.
  3. In the navigation menu on the left, click Shared with me.

To view or work with these files using Google Drive for desktop, you must create shortcuts to the shared files or folders in Google My Drive:

  1. In Google My Drive, click Shared with me.
  2. Find the desired shared file or folder, right-click its name, and then select Add shortcut to Drive.
  3. In the navigation pop-up, select My Drive, navigate to the location where you want to create the shortcut, and then click ADD SHORTCUT.
Note:
You cannot create a shortcut in Google at IU Shared Drives.
Important:
Creation of Google Shared Drives has been disabled as IU works to limit its storage footprint in the Google platform. Existing shared drives will continue to work normally. For more, see About storage in Google at IU.
