Who was the Hamster on The Masked Singer

(Warning: This post contains spoilers from Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer.”)

“The Masked Singer” cut another competitor from its Season 6 lineup on Wednesday’s episode, revealing the identity of the Hamster contestant by the end of the hour.

But before viewers learned Hamster’s secret identity, he and the other remaining Group A contestants — Skunk, Pepper and Bull — along with newbie Wildcard Jester, all performed for host Nick Cannon and “Masked Singer” judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke, and guest panelist Leslie Jordan.

In the end, it ended up being Hamster who got the fewest votes from the audience and judges, despite enthusiastic praise for his performance of Luis Miguel’s “Sabor a Mí,” which he sang entirely in Spanish. When the mask came off, it was revealed that actor Rob Schneider was the celeb underneath the fluffy rodent costume.

Before Hamster was unmasked as Schneider, only McCarthy correctly guessed his identity. Thicke picked Cheech Marin, Scherzinger said Gabriel Iglesias, as did guest judge Jordan, and Jeong guessed Will Ferrell.

Readers can find TheWrap’s interview with Schneider about his time on “The Masked Singer,” including how excited he is for Adam Sandler to see it, right here.

Schneider’s Hamster joins the already unmasked “The Masked Singer” Season 6 contestants: Cupcake (Ruth Pointer), Octopus (Dwight Howard), Mother Nature (Vivica A. Fox), Pufferfish (Toni Braxton), Dalmatian (Tyga) and Baby (Larry the Cable Guy).

Still in the running for a “Masked Singer” win are Group A’s Skunk, Bull, Pepper and Jester, along with Group B’s remaining lineup of Queen of Hearts, Banana Split, Mallard and Caterpillar. Fans will just have to keep waiting for the arrival of the final Wildcard contestant, Beach Ball.

Per Fox, “The Masked Singer” Season 6 contestants “boast a combined 85 Grammy Nominations and 27 wins, three Academy Award nominations, 12 Emmy Nominations, 12 Razzie Award Nominations, two Super Bowl appearances and two Lifetime Achievement Awards.”

“The Masked Singer” airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Fox.

Well, would ya look at that? Hamster was revealed to be *drumroll* actor and comedian Rob Schneider! Good job, internet. To close his time as Hamster, Rob riffed on one of his most iconic cinematic lines: “You can do it, Masked Singer! You can do it all night long!” The reveal was hysterical and precious, much like Rob—watch it here:

I dare you to lie and say that Hamster from The Masked Singer season 6 didn’t immediately bring back alllll those mems of Kia Soul commercials with jumbo giant hamsters (that looked like rats, LBH) party rockin’ and dance battling Imperial Soldiers. Mix that with the iconic trio that is Alvin and the Chipmunks, and my friends, you have Hamster. Yes, there is a lottt going on with our dear rodent friend, especially those bejeweled headphones and supposed chains. I just—sigh. Let him speak for himself:

Don’t you just wanna pinch his cheeks though? The conflict! With all that said, let’s get into theories about what celeb decided to lock themselves away in Hamster for the foreseeable future.

The Clues

Hamster already performed on The Masked Singer stage as a wild card for Group A, and a clip of clues aired before he hit the stage. Check out the clues and performance of “Pretty Woman”:

Hamster also performed a second time in episode 4, when he sang “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” by Queen.

After the first performance, Hamster’s locker clues were revealed—we saw a baseball bat and a lil stuffed strawberry toy, among other things. All Hamster said for himself was, “It’s sunny and I like to play baseball.” Hamster will return tonight for a third performance so more clues will likely come then. For now, though, here’s what we got:

  1. This line: “I wanted to become the Hamster because, unfortunately, my body is shaped very much like a hamster.” LOL.
  2. The sign of Alcatraz Island.
  3. Having a lot of famous friends.
  4. The baseball bat.

The Theories

Guessers are CONVINCED this is the only right answer, and I truly get it. The laughter that ensued from the clues clip can only be induced by Rob Schneider. Countless Instagram and YouTube commenters are more than certain that Rob is inside the Hamster, and this theory really doesn’t seem far off. Hamster said he jumps into a lot of projects with his famous friends, and Rob is known to be a part of Adam Sandler’s crew, not to mention in almost all his movies. Rob is also from San Francisco—where Alcatraz Island is located in the bay. A lot of people think that baseball bat was a nod to Rob’s role in The Benchwarmers too.

Another great contender due to all the jokes that were made during Hamster’s first segment. Judge Nicole Scherzinger actually made this guess, and it really supported what co-judge Ken Jeong said about the Hamster having to be a comedic actor. We also know Jack has a bit of singing and dancing chops thanks to his deeply loved role in School of Rock.

Hamster IMMEDIATELY shut this one down when judge Jenny McCarthy suggested it with a quick retort of, “I’m way fucking taller!” Welp. So much for that one, I guess!

Be sure to tune in to The Masked Singer tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX to see what goes down with Hamster! In the meantime, soak up all the celeb reveals on season 6 so far:
