Dancing with the Stars pro Jenna Johnson is opening up about her family plans with her husband and DWTS co-star, Val Chmerkovskiy. Dancing With the Stars pros Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy are opening up about their family plans. Jenna is currently competing on season 30 of the show alongside JoJo Siwa. She and JoJo are making DWTS history as the first same-sex partners on the show. Jenna was among the pros JoJo was hoping to dance with; she also listed Britt Stewart and Lindsay Arnold as partners she'd like to have before being officially paired with Jenna. Val is paired up with Lori Loughlin's daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli, for this season. Jenna has gotten candid about the challenges of both her and Val being on the show at the same time. The couple, who have been together since 2017 and married since 2019, are no strangers to finding the balance between work and personal life. However, Jenna admitted that it has been exceptionally difficult during this season of DWTS. It's a struggle for them since they're both so passionate about their work, but it's also something they're used to doing. This season, they aren't even allowed to live together because of the strict COVID-19 protocols the show put into place. Jenna also said they normally make an effort to leave their work lives at work and focus on their marriage when they come home. Jenna opened up about what her family plans are with her husband. "We’ve always wanted a family," she told Us Weekly. "Timing is everything." Jenna revealed her "love language is physical touch," so having to be separated while filming the show has been hard for her. Jenna also injured her knee during her first dance, which probably made it even more difficult to be on her own. Even though they miss being with each other, Jenna also knows how important the show is to both her and Val. "I just want to be a full-on koala on him, kissing him. That’s just me. So it’s been a little bit difficult, but we both have the same end goal, and we know how much [winning the mirrorball] means to each other," Jenna said. Jenna went on to talk about her DWTS co-stars who have recently started families. Both Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson have had babies and are back for season 30. "To see them as moms, working moms, and to get some of their baby snuggles is so fun," Jenna said. "It’s been great to have them in the ballroom." Lindsay, who gave birth to her daughter Sage in November 2020, is partnered with former star of The Bachelor Matt James. Witney, who has a nine-month-old son named Leo, is dancing with Mike "The Miz" Mizanin this season. Even if this season has been especially hard for Jenna and Val, they're both doing great competition-wise with their partners. With Lindsay and Witney both starting their families and then returning to the ballroom, fans could be seeing the same for Jenna and Val in the future. Until then, they'll be battling it out on the dancefloor for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.

Before the pair made their DWTS debut, Jojo said, "For the first time in Dancing With the Stars history, I am dancing with another female, and I'm really, really proud. Ever since Dancing with the Stars first aired in 2005, the show has been responsible for creating lasting love connections. Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy are both fan-favorite pro dancers who fell in love on set. The couple was married in 2019 and have been inseparable ever since, sharing sweet glimpses of their relationship with their loving fans. After years of competing in the ballroom competition circuit, Jenna and Val worked together for the first time when she joined Dancing with the Stars in 2014. Val was already one of the most popular pros at the time. His onscreen camaraderie with his brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and his handsome looks made him a hit with viewers at home. Jenna was enamored from the moment she got to dance with Val for the first time. “I was this little girl, so excited she was walking into her dream job. I walked in and I got partnered with him in one of the opening numbers. I knew it was a wrap,” she told Stylecaster in October 2021. “I mean, the butterflies, the way he spoke, the way he smelled, what he was saying to me. And dancing with him? I mean, I’m biased, but he is the best male pro on Dancing With the Stars. That rehearsal started our whole dating, love story situation.” The couple was subject to dating rumors early in 2015 as their onscreen chemistry was heating up. They were spotted out together on intimate date nights in 2016. Things fizzled out shortly after and Val began dating his season 23 dance partner, Amber Rose. In June 2017, Jenna and Val rekindled their romance and went on a European vacation together. From then on, their relationship has been rock solid. In June 2018, Val proposed to Jenna during a trip to Venice. “I knew the moment I met you, you were the man of my dreams and I wanted to be with you forever,” Jenna wrote alongside an engagement photo on Instagram. Jenna and Val were married in an oceanside California ceremony on April 13, 2019. One year later, the pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a big announcement. They bought their first house together in Los Angeles where they live with their dog, Ziggy. The Dancing with the Stars pros are excited about starting their next chapter. “This is definitely a home that we’re comfortable starting our family in,” Val told People in June 2021. “There’s a lot of heart here. It’s not perfect and there’s a lot of things that could still change and grow, but it’s ours — and it’s perfect for us.” Scroll to see Jenna and Val’s cutest quotes about marriage and falling in love.

Jenna is used to getting all dolled up on the Dancing with the Stars set. Her husband actually encourages her to embrace her natural beauty after she gets home from work. “My husband hates makeup. Well, he doesn't hate it, but he thinks that I am so much more beautiful when I have no makeup on,” the season 30 runner up told Ask Men in October 2019. “It's funny, I always look forward to being able to wipe off my makeup and just being fully fresh faced. I feel most beautiful, especially in front of him, and I love that he's made me feel that way. Before, I was scared to not have makeup on in front of him when we were just dating.”
