Senam ketangkasan merupakan rangkaian gerakan senam yang dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat bantu maupun tanpa alat bantu. Gerak dasar dalam senam ketangkasan, yaitu melompat, menggantung, mengayun, meniti, dan mendarat. Senam ketangkasan dapat dilakukan menggunakan peralatan tertentu. Berikut beberapa peralatan yang digunakan dalam senam ketangkasan yaitu Matras, Kuda pelana, Gelang-gelang, Peti lompat, Palang sejajar, Palang tunggal, Palang bertingkat, Balok keseimbangan, dan Kuda-kuda lompat Senam diperagakan dengan menampilkan suatu pola gerak yang dikenal dengan istilah pola gerak dominan. Pola gerak dominan adalah pola gerak yang mendasari terbentuknya keterampilan sehingga perannya dianggap dominan. Senam terdiri atas berbagai pola gerak dominan yang mendasarinya. Pola gerak tersebut antara lain sebagai berikut.

1. Berlari dan Melompat

Melompat merupakan salah satu gerak dominan dalam senam ketangkasan. Melompat dilakukan dengan tumpuan satu kaki. Saat melakukan gerak melompat, gerakan dilakukan dengan awalan, melompat, dan mendarat. awalan gerak melompat dapat dilakukan dengan berlari. Kemudian, dilanjutkan dengan gerak bertumpu menggunakan satu kaki. Selanjutnya, tolak tubuh ke atas dan diakhiri dengan gerak mendarat dengan kedua kaki.

2. Meloncat dan Menggantung

Sikap menggantung termasuk posisi statis. Menggantung dilakukan dengan menempatkan bahu di bawah alat. Latihan menggantung meningkatkan kekuatan dan daya tahan otot tangan. Teknik menggantung dilakukan dengan pegangan atas, dan pegangan bawah. Untuk berlatih menggantung, kamu perlu menyiapkan tongkat sepanjang 50 cm. Latihan menggantung tidak dapat diabaikan, karena dapat mengembangkan kekuatan dan daya tahan pegangan.

3. Meloncat dan Mengayun

Ayunan adalah suatu gerak melingkar yang berporos di luar tubuh atau benda yang bergerak. Mengayun merupakan salah satu gerakan senam ketangkasan. Gerakan ini dapat melatih kekuatan dan kelenturan ototmu. Keterampilan mengayun dibentuk dari kemampuan menggantung dan penguasaan teknik pegangan. Cara melakukan gerak mengayun sebagai berikut.

Ayunan dari gantungan, yang terdiri dari ayunan panjang (long swing), ayunan meluncur (glide swing), ayunan dengan posisi tubuh terbalik, serta ayunan melecut (beat swing).
Ayunan dari tumpuan, yang bisa dibedakan lagi menjadi ayunan pada palang tunggal, misalnya ayunan tumpu depan, dan ayunan pada palang sejajar, misalnya cross support swing.

4. Berjalan Meniti Berjalan meniti merupakan teknik berjalan di atas bangku atau balok keseimbangan. Gerakan berjalan meniti berfungsi untuk melatih keseimbangan tubuh. Cara melakukan gerakan berjalan meniti adalah sebagai berikut.

Berdiri tegak lalu naik ke balok titian.
Kedua tangan direntangkan ke samping.
Berjalan ke depan dengan kaki jinjit.
Berjalan ke belakang/mundur dengan kaki jinjit.
Kembali ke sikap semula.

Selain bangku, meniti juga dapat dilakukak di atas balok keseimbangan. Balok keseimbangan merupakan peralatan senam berupa balok panjang mendatar dengan panjang sekitar 4 meter. Balok keseimbangan digunakan untuk memperagakan keseimbangan statis dan dinamis. Berjalanlah di atas balok keseimbangan dengan secara bergantian. Awalnya, berdiri tegak di atas balok keseimbangan. Rentangkan kedua lengan ke samping. Berjalanlah ke depan dengan kaki jinjit. Sesampai di ujung balok keseimbangan, berjalanlah ke belakang dengan kaki jinjit. Kembali ke posisi semula. Lakukan praktik ini secara mandiri dan percaya diri.

5. Menekuk dan Mendarat

Istilah mendarat merujuk pada tindakan bertumpu di atas matras atau tanah setelah melayang. Gerakan mendarat dilakukan dengan kaki. Kesalahan mendarat dapat menyebabkan cedera. Untuk menghindari cedera, berlatihlah gerakan mendarat secara tekun. Peragakan gerakan mendarat dengan mengikuti langkah-langkah gerakan berikut.

Tekuk lutut hingga membentuk sudut kurang dari 90o.
Gerakan mendarat dilakukan seperti orang hendak duduk di kursi.
Bagian kaki yang pertama kali mendarat ialah ujung telapak kaki, diikuti tumit dan persendian kaki, serta lutut dan punggung dibungkukkan.
Usahakan tumit tidak terangkat dari lantai saat mendarat.

Istilah pendaratan diartikan secara meluas sebagai penghentian yang terkontrol dari tubuh yang melayang turun. Pendaratan bisa dilakukan pada kedua kaki.
