Why does Google Photos keep backing up

If you are an Android user, then you must be aware of Google Photos and its feature that allows users to back up their entire gallery to cloud and free up space on the smartphone. Also, the app offers unlimited cloud storage if a user chooses to upload them in high quality.

However, even if you have unlimited storage on offer, you might not want to upload all the photos such as screenshots, random WhatsApp images or something which you have downloaded from the browser for a specific purpose and is not as important to keep a backup.

So, how are you supposed to ensure that only the required folders are being synced by Google Photos? Here is how to do it.

Steps to stop Google Photos from backing up all the folders from gallery


1.

Open Google Photos app on your smartphone and tap on three-horizontal bars from the top left corner

2.

Tap on Settings and choose the option Backup & sync

3.

If the Backup & sync toggle switch is at off position, tap to turn it on

4.

Once done, tap on Backup device folders option

5.

Here turn off the toggles for the folders you dont want to upload

Do note that, theres a possibility that none of the folders are selected. In that case turn on all the toggles for the folders, you want to upload and leave the rest as it is.
