Two teams that have struggled a bit out of the gates in Atlantic Coast Conference competition will collide this Tuesday night as Syracuse basketball welcomes long-time rival Pittsburgh to the Hill.

For the Orange (7-8, 1-3), it is mired in a three-game losing streak, although that trio of setbacks has come against solid competition and by a total of nine points. Last week, the ‘Cuse held a big lead at Miami but fell by one point, and the Orange had an eight-point edge at Wake Forest in the second half but ultimately lost by three points in overtime.

So after traveling all of last week, the ‘Cuse will be at home for three games, beginning with Pittsburgh on Tuesday evening. Following two close ACC losses by a combined four points of late, the Panthers (6-9, 1-3) got back into the victory column this past Saturday with a two-point triumph versus Boston College on their own turf.

In no way, shape or form do I think that the Orange is anywhere near the conversation for the Big Dance this spring, however, it will prove important for the ‘Cuse to hold serve in Central New York over the team’s next three league meetings to at least gain some confidence and momentum moving forward.

Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under

Please check out WynnBET for the latest odds and betting information on the Orange hosting Pittsburgh. As of Monday evening, the ‘Cuse was a sizable favorite, at 11.0 points, with the over/under set at 142.0 points.

While the Orange’s problems on defense are well-documented at this juncture in the 2021-22 stanza, its next foe has its own woes, but on the opposite end of the court. According to ESPN data, the Panthers only score 62.4 points a game while connecting on just 41.4 percent from the field.

However, Pittsburgh, historically known as a physical, defensive-minded squad, is allowing a mere 64.9 points per affair so far in 2021-22. When the ‘Cuse lost to Wake Forest, 77-74, over the weekend, the Orange after a hot start early on really struggled shooting the ball from the field for much of the game.

A term ago, Pitt swept the ‘Cuse in the regular season, which was really irritating. I think that the Orange, seeking some revenge and also looking to change the trajectory of its 2021-22 campaign, will take care of the Panthers on the Hill this time around.

Make your pick now on WynnBET.

According to cuse.com, the Orange will take on Pittsburgh at the Carrier Dome starting at 7 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 11. ESPNU will provide television coverage.

The Notre Dame basketball team looks to get back on track tonight, as they play host to the Syracuse Orange inside Purcell Pavilion.

In another must-win game for this Notre Dame basketball team, the Irish come back home to Purcell Pavilion, a site that has seen them go 11-1 this season. The only loss, to a top-10 Duke team, was a blemish on what has been an outstanding season for the Irish, and one they must finish strong.

Looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament, Notre Dame basketball can punch their ticket with a championship in the ACC Tournament but should be at least an at-large bid if they can close out the regular season with four straight wins. They have very beatable opponents coming up on the schedule, and with three of their final four games at home, they should be able to take care of business.

Tonight, they can continue their push to be a single-digit seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Notre Dame basketball vs Syracuse Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under

According to WynnBet, the Irish are the favorites in this one, as they are giving five points to the Orange. The over/under is set at 146.0, and if you bet Notre Dame basketball on the Moneyline, the odds are -210. A Moneyline bet on Syracuse will be +170.

The pressure is on Notre Dame in this one, as the Orange are playing much better basketball as of late, winning seven of their last ten. They are led in scoring by Buddy Boeheim, who happens to be the coach’s son, and they are also strong on the glass, averaging nearly ten offensive rebounds per game.

For the Irish, they need to get back to doing what they do best, and that is spreading the basketball around. In their last game, a loss on the road to Wake Forest, Blake Wesley went off, scoring 24 points as he continues his magical true freshman season.

Tonight, the Irish need all hands on deck, and they should be able to find their rhythm against the Orange’s vaunted zone defense.

My prediction: Notre Dame 71, Syracuse 68

Tonight’s matchup between the Irish and Syracuse will be broadcast on ESPNN.
