Learn how to customize text entry and default keyboard settings on the Samsung Galaxy A12.

Change default keyboard

Samsung keyboard

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > General management > Language and input > On-screen keyboard.
  3. Tap Default keyboard >Samsung Keyboard.

On-screen keyboard

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > General management > Language and input.
  3. Tap On-screen keyboard >Google voice typing.

Enter symbols & numbers

  1. From the alphabet keyboard, tap the !#1 key to enter symbols.
  2. Tap the 1/2 key for more symbols.
  3. Tap the ABC key to return to the alphabet keyboard.
  4. Tap the Smiley face to insert emoticons.

Text entry mode

Samsung keyboard

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > General management > Language and input.
  3. Tap On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard.
  4. Tap Smart typing to edit the following settings:
    • Predictive text
    • Suggest emojis
    • Auto replace
    • Auto spell check
    • Auto capitalize
    • Auto spacing
    • Auto punctuate
    • Text shortcuts
  5. Tap Style and layout to edit the following settings:
    • Keyboard toolbar
    • Keyboard themes
    • High contrast keyboard
    • Modes
    • Size and transparency
    • Keyboard font size
    • Keyboard layout
    • Custom symbols

Google keyboard

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > General management > Language and input > On-screen keyboard.
  3. Tap Google voice typing to edit the following settings:
    • Languages
    • Spoken results
    • Offline speech recognition
    • Hide offensive words
    • Voice Match
    • Bluetooth audio recording
    • Allow Bluetooth requests with device locked
    • Allow wired headset requests with device locked

Turn on / off haptic (vibration) feedback

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Sounds and vibration > System sound/vibration control.
  3. Tap Samsung Keyboardslider to turn on or off.
