How to put your Apple Music playlist in alphabetical order on iPhone

Question: Q: How to sort Ipad or Iphone Music Playlist alphabetically with IOS 14.2?

I have a music playlist on my Mac, which when synced with my Iphone and iPad, is not showing all the song titles sorted alphabetically. In Mac Music I can sort the titles alphabetically but I can see no way to sort the playlist titles in the latest IOS 14.2 version. The Sort does not seem to carry over to the iPhone or Ipad after updating and re syncing.

Does anyone know how this can be achieved? Is it a feature dropped from the latest IOS release? or does it need to be a new feature request?

Question: Q: iTunes playlists not sorting alphabetically when I change the name

So I’m trying to rearrange my playlists so that they display in the correct order for easy access. And I always keep my playlists in order by title. I wanted to bring one of my playlists up to the top for easy access so I renamed it to “A1” which should bring it to the top. I also renamed some other playlist so that they would appear lower down in the playlist order. But instead of rearranging my playlists iTunes does NOTHING. iTunes sorts as if I had never changed the names of the playlists, and I can’t remember which were which. Now, no matter what I do, it is impossible to get my playlists arranged by Title alphabetically. What is the point of even giving an option to arrange by title alphabetically if nothing rearranges anymore and everything stays out of order just because I renamed a few playlists? This is really really stupid!! (**Frustrated!! **)

Hi there d2west,

From what we can tell, your playlists aren't appearing in alphabetical order as expected after changing a few playlist names in iTunes. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities, and we can provide some guidance.

"Choose View > Sort By. When you choose View > Sort By > Playlist Order, you can drag items into the order you want." Learn more in the '' section here:

If that doesn't seem to help, have you tried clicking the column you want to sort by, like Alphabetically by Title, since you changed the playlist names? Find out more from the link below:

I don’t see the “view” tab/button in the Music app. (Remember I am in an iPhone.) When I open up the app the only things available are the Library, the “edit” link and the “recently added”. Under Library there is the playlist option but that just opens to my playlist which are out of order alphabetically, and the “sort” button. As I indicated before, the option of sorting alphabetically doesn’t work.... there is no “view” option.

It sounds like you're trying to sort your playlists alphabetically on your iPhone, rather than on a PC. To do so, follow the steps in the 'Sort your music' section of this support article:

View albums, playlists, and more in Music on iPhone

If the option to 'Sort' isn't appearing there or not working as expected, let us know which iPhone you're using and the iOS version listed in Settings > General > About. We'll take a closer look from there.
