How do I log into Pokémon GO with Google?

On android devices, everything is linked directly to the saved accounts on the device, and therefore there is no way to log into a google account for Pokemon through a browser like Chrome.

The only other option would be through a Pokemon Trainer Club account as mentioned by Chase Sandmann if you are trying to avoid logging in.

When using google, make sure you're logged into your google account. Exit pokemon go completely, open up your browser on your phone and sign into gmail then start up pokemon go again.

I am logged into my google account and it still does it.

Well, for the first time ever, I was able to log in with my Nintendo account. Unfortunately, playing with this account means losing all of the Pokemon I caught as well as no longer having the items I spent real money on.

The exact message I get, by the way, when trying to log in with Google is:

"Our servers are humbled by your incredible response.

We are working to resolve the issue. Please try again soon!"

It's been like that for weeks now. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I'm able to sign in with the Pokemon Trainer Club with no issue (which is a first; I was never able to sign in using the PTC until now), but as I mentioned, using that account means saying goodbye to all of my Pokemon and no longer having the items I paid real money to get.

Try clearing all the cached data and log back in.

This happened to me. All I needed to do was update Google from the play store and I was able to log in again.

There's no update available at the Google play store for me. And I did clear cached data and still had no luck.

After creating your Pokémon GO account, you may link an additional login provider—either Facebook, Google, or Apple—to your account.* Once linked, you’ll be able to sign into Pokémon GO using any of the login providers linked to your account, but note that you can only have one login linked for each login provider (e.g., only one Facebook profile, Gmail address, or Apple ID can be connected at a time).

Some reasons we advise having multiple login providers include:

  • If you created an account using a non-permanent email address (e.g. a work or school email address) that you may lose access to in the future.

  • If the single login provider you’ve chosen is experiencing an interruption in service, you will be able to log in using a different provider.

  • If you choose to change the login provider account to which your Pokémon GO account is linked.

*Note about Sign in with Apple: Signing in with Apple and linking an Apple account is currently only available for users with devices running iOS 13. Read this article for more information about Apple accounts.

Note about PTC accounts: Trainers who first created an account with Facebook, Google, or Apple cannot link a Pokémon Trainer Club (PTC) account to their Pokémon GO account; however, Trainers who first created accounts through PTC can link additional accounts through the methods provided in this article.

Note about child accounts: Linking multiple login providers is not available for child accounts. Trainers with child accounts will not see the option in the Settings menu.

Important note if you play other Niantic games: Account linking and unlinking takes effect across all Niantic products. Unlinking a login provider that is used for multiple Niantic games will unlink the login provider for all of those games. For example: if you're unlinking a Facebook account from your Pokémon GO account, you will no longer be able to log into any other Niantic game with Facebook.

  1. In Map View, tap the Main Menu

  2. At the top right, tap Settings

  3. Under the Account section, select the “Not Linked” checkbox next to the login provider you would like to connect.

  4. Follow the prompts to link your account. Once your account is linked, you can use that login provider to sign into your Pokémon GO account.

If you receive an error message when attempting to link a login provider to your account, it is often because that account is already linked to another Pokémon GO account.

Unlinking a Login Provider

To disconnect a login provider from your account, deselect the “Linked” checkbox next to the login provider you would like to disconnect. After you unlink, you will no longer be able to sign into your account using that login provider. Note that you cannot remove the login provider you used to sign into your current gameplay session.

Updating a Login Provider

You may update any of your login providers (e.g. change the Facebook, Google, or Apple account to which you are connected) at any time, by unlinking the account you no longer want, and re-linking your desired account. Keep in mind that to do so, you will need to have a secondary login provider, as you are unable to unlink all login methods from your account at one time.

How do I log into my old Pokémon GO Account?

If you do not know which email address or login provider you used to log into Pokémon GO, we may be able to help recover it by looking up your Trainer nickname. I know my Trainer nickname! Please contact us and select "Sign-in Issue" from the dropdown menu for assistance on recovering your email address.
To link your Trainer profile to a Google or Facebook account, access the Settings menu and then select the platform you'd like to link.

Why can't I log into Pokémon GO?

You may receive “failed to log in” or “unable to authenticate” error messages if our servers are experiencing a temporary issue or your network connectivity is poor. Check to ensure your mobile device has a strong network connection, or wait a short while, then try logging in again.
