Offline mode in Google Drive
Even without internet access, you can view & edit files in Drive. Once you have internet access again, all the changes, updates, and files will sync. On a Chromebook, you can also take, view, & edit photos and videos or use the Keep app to take notes.
Google Drive
Before you turn on offline access:
- Install and turn on Google Docs Offline Chrome extension.
- Make sure you have enough available space on your device to save your files.
Open Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides offline
- Open Chrome. Make sure you're signed in to Chrome.
- Go to drive.google.com/drive/settings.
- Check the box next to "Sync Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drawings files to this computer so that you can edit offline."
Save Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for offline use
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com.
- Select the Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides file You can select multiple files at once.
- Right click file(s) you want to save.
- Choose "Available offline."
