How do I fix file format does not match the file extension?

Here's a photo of the document properties Tried to change the file type to no avail, also tried converting it to a phd ("File not found", and also uploading it to word online/google docs to try open it.

Downloaded a 2010 file format converter by Microsoft as a random attempt to fix it too - but as you can see the document is already docx

Laptop is low on space, could this be a factor? I would have thought not if it isn't even uploading elsewhere.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Edit Solution:

A:

File Explorer go to View then Options then View and clear the "Hide Extensions by known File Types" (this is what I had missed before)

  • This may solve the issue and work as normal - else, you may get a message saying the "files with a.asd extension can not be opened from this location" = part B

B:

Copy the document from the File Explorer

Go to C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles by pasting this in the start menu

Paste the document here, and change the file type to .asd

Open word, click Open and at the bottom of the page select "Recover Unsaved Documents"

Save document after opening
